Junior Season Finals Series Update

With the recent wet weather and forecast of more over the next month, the club wishes to update everyone on what the possibilities are for the completion of our junior season.

The cancellation of our last 3 weeks of matches has been a disappointment for everyone, including our committee and volunteers that run the competition. The current format for the finals series, as outlined in the conditions of entry to the competition is as follows:

Friday 19 March – U7 and U9 Grand Finals. All players receive a trophy. U11, U13, U15 and U17 – Semi-finals. 1v 4 and 2v 3 in each division with winners progressing to a Grand Final and losers eliminated from the competition.

Friday 26 March – U11, U13, U15 and U17 – Grand Finals between winners of the various Semi-finals from 19 March.

As of today’s date it is looking very unlikely that we will get to play this Friday 19 March. We cannot even get the line marker onto the fields to mark them. In the event that matches cannot be played this Friday, the U7 and U9 Grand Finals will be postponed to Friday 26 March. In the U11 – U17 divisions, we will look to run both the semi-finals and the grand finals on the same night on the 26 March. This will be subject to ground availability and in the event that we cannot fit the games into the available fields, we will have to abandon the semi-finals and play a grand final only between teams 1 and 2 on the competition ladder.

In the event that we are unable to play Friday 26 March, there will be no grand finals played for the U7-U9 divisions and teams will be provided with their trophies to hold their own presentation.

In the U11-U17 divisions, we will look to move these to a Wednesday night after the school holidays are over. The club cannot use the fields on a Friday night in Autumn/Winter as soccer have the use of them but we retain use of the fields on a Wednesday throughout the year.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding and will keep you all up to date with what’s happening as things progress. Follow our Facebook page for the most up to date information.
