JUNIOR COMPETITION UPDATE
As members would be aware, the commencement of our junior competition is scheduled for this Friday 29 October. As a result of a number of issues, we have had to make the decision to postpone the start of the junior competition by 1 week to Friday 5 November.
There are several reasons for this but the main challenge is that we have 30 teams of our 147 that have nominated, which have not yet had the required number of players register into their teams, and as such cannot be admitted to the competition. Whilst the association understands there are challenges in getting everyone organised, we cannot take the risk of admitting teams to the competition without the required number of players. We have to pay affiliation fees per team to NSW Touch and if teams withdraw, those funds are not recoverable.
As such we have extended the date to get your required number of players registered into your team to this Friday 29 October. Any teams without the required number of registered players by that date, will not be admitted to the competition.
The required number of registered players is 7 for U9 and younger age groups, or 8 players for U11 and older age groups. Whilst we appreciate that this may cause some disappointment for members, it is necessary to finalise the competition format and create the draw.
So the message is clear – get your players registered into your team. This is your last chance, there will be no further extensions.
Brad will also be contacting teams that are short of players directly to reinforce this message and offer assistance where possible to get teams across the line. There may be an opportunity, if for example, we have 2 teams that are very short of players, to combine and create one side.
We look forward to seeing everyone and getting the competition under way on Friday 5 November.
